1) What depth of electrical box does the B-Line BB2-16D box support bracket mount?
It mounts boxes 1.5 inch, 2.13 inch, 2.5 inch and 2.8 inch deep. That covers the common shallow and deep single and multi-gang steel device boxes used in stud walls. A box outside those four depths is not a match for this bracket.
2) Is this box mounting bracket for metal studs or wood framing?
The BB2-16D is a metal stud bracket. Its adjustment range is specified as metal stud spacing of 11 to 18 inches, and it telescopes between stud faces rather than screwing to the side of a wood member. For wood framing you would normally nail or screw the box directly to the stud or use a wood-stud bar hanger instead.
3) Is the B-Line BB2-16D bracket UL listed for electrical work?
Yes, it carries a UL/CUL listing, which is what an inspector or an institutional specification will be looking for on a box support in a commercial wall. The CUL side covers Canadian installations as well.
4) Do I still need to buy the electrical box separately with this bracket?
Yes. The BB2-16D is the telescoping support bracket only. The device box, its mounting screws and any mud ring or plaster ring are ordered separately, and the box you pick has to be one of the 1.5, 2.13, 2.5 or 2.8 inch depths the bracket accepts.

The bracket is steel and supplied pre-galvanized, so there is no field painting or coating step before it goes in the wall. Pre-galvanized is an interior, dry to normally humid finish, not a substitute for hot-dip or stainless in wet or corrosive locations.
