1) Does the Eaton LDC3400T56W breaker come with lugs or terminals?
No. The LDC3400T56W is supplied without terminals, so you have to order the line and load lug or terminal kit separately for the L-frame LDC breaker. Budget for that before the install date, because the breaker cannot be landed on cable as shipped.
2) What interrupting rating does the 400A Eaton LDC L-frame breaker have at 480V?
100 kAIC at 480 Vac, and 200 kAIC at 240 Vac. That is the number your short circuit study has to be checked against; if the available fault current at the panel exceeds it at your system voltage, this breaker is not the right selection.
3) What does the OPTIM 550 LSIG trip unit give me over a thermal-magnetic breaker?
LSIG means four adjustable functions: long delay, short delay, instantaneous, and ground fault. A thermal-magnetic breaker only gives you the long-time and instantaneous behavior fixed by its thermal element. With LSIG you can coordinate selectively with upstream and downstream devices and get integral ground fault protection without a separate relay and CT set. Note the trip unit is factory sealed, and selecting the long delay I4t response limits the short delay time to a flat response.
4) Do I need to buy an auxiliary switch and bell alarm separately for this Eaton LDC breaker?
No, both are already in the box. One Form C auxiliary switch and one Form C bell alarm switch ship with the breaker as standard, so you can wire breaker status and trip indication back to your BMS or annunciator panel without a field-installed accessory.
5) Is the LDC3400T56W a complete breaker or just a trip unit replacement?
Complete breaker. The LDC3400T56W ships as a whole Series C L-frame unit with the OPTIM 550 electronic trip already fitted, not as a bare trip unit or a replacement interior. It is also UL Listed.
6) How much space and weight do I need to allow for a 400A Eaton L-frame breaker?
