B-LINE BG-16-E-9-12 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Do I need bolts or a strut channel to install this beam fastener?
No. The Guide-Rite fastener is a flange clip that attaches directly to the beam edge, so there is no drilling, welding, or strut channel required. It supports the conduit off the steel on its own, which is why it is usually faster than a strut and clamp assembly for straight runs along a beam.
2) Can I use this Guide-Rite fastener on a bar joist or concrete deck instead of a beam?
No. This is a flange-type fastener that clamps to a structural beam flange between .56 and .75 inch thick. Concrete decks, bar joists, and wood framing need a different support method, such as an anchored strap or a strut assembly.
3) How much does one B-Line BG-16-E-9-12 fastener weigh and how big is it?
Each piece weighs .085 lb and measures 1 inch in height, 1 inch in length and 1 inch in width. That small footprint matters on tight runs where the conduit sits close to the beam web or next to other trades' hangers.
