1) Is this conduit clamp UL listed for an inspected commercial job?
The BPC-32 break-apart clamp is UL/CUL listed, which is what an electrical inspector on a commercial or institutional project will be looking for on conduit support hardware.
2) Do I need a different clamp for 1 inch or 1-1/2 inch conduit on the same job?
Yes. Although the Multi-Grip design covers rigid, IMC and EMT, the BPC-32 is sized for 2 inch conduit only. Smaller or larger trade sizes take the corresponding part number in the same break-apart series.
3) What does break-apart mean on a conduit clamp, and why would I choose it over a one-piece strap?
A break-apart clamp separates into two halves, so you can drop it around conduit that is already installed or tie into a run without threading the pipe through a closed loop. A one-piece strap has to go on before the run is made up or at a free end. The BPC-32 is the break-apart style in the 2 inch size.
4) Is the B-Line BPC-32 galvanized, and can I use it outdoors?
The clamp is pre-galvanized. Pre-galvanized steel is a mill zinc coating suited to dry interior and protected locations; for direct weather exposure or corrosive areas, specify a hot-dip galvanized or stainless clamp instead.
