B-LINE BPC-24 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the B-Line BPC-24 clamp fit 1-1/2 inch EMT, or is it rigid only?
The BPC-24 break-apart conduit clamp is sized for 1-1/2 inch conduit and its Multi-Grip design fits rigid, IMC or EMT in that trade size. One part number covers all three wall types, so you don't need separate clamps for a run that changes from rigid to EMT.
2) Is the B-Line BPC-24 UL listed for an inspected commercial job?
It carries a UL/CUL listing, which covers it for work in both the US and Canada. That is the line an electrical inspector or a spec writer is looking for on conduit support hardware.
3) What does break-apart mean on a conduit clamp, and why would I choose it over a one-piece strap?
A break-apart clamp separates into two halves, so you can drop it around conduit that is already installed or set the back half on the support first and close it up after the pipe is in place. A one-piece strap has to be threaded over the end of the run. On a retrofit or a long existing run where you cannot pull pipe out, the break-apart BPC-24 is the one that goes in without disassembly.
4) How much weight can a single B-Line BPC-24 conduit clamp hold?
Rated at 200 lbs load capacity. That is per clamp, so spacing on the run is what determines the total supported weight, and NEC support spacing for the conduit type still governs how far apart you set them.
5) What finish is the BPC-24 conduit clamp, and can I use it outdoors?
The clamp is pre-galvanized. Pre-galvanized steel is suited to dry indoor and protected locations; for direct weather exposure, wash-down, or corrosive environments, specify a hot-dip galvanized or stainless support instead.
