B-LINE BLAVAFAGS15 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will this Eaton B-Line filter grill keep a NEMA 12 enclosure rating?
Yes. The B-Line BLAVAFAGS15 filter grill is rated NEMA 12, so it can be fitted to a NEMA 12 enclosure without breaking the dust-tight, drip-tight rating of the box. It is also UL Recognized as a component.
2) What size cutout does the 6 inch B-Line filter grill need?
The grill is a 6 inch filter grill measuring 6 x 6 x 6 inches on the published height, width and depth figures, so plan your enclosure opening around the 6 inch grill size. Verify the opening against the grill body before you punch the panel.
3) Is the B-Line 6 inch filter grill suitable for outdoor or washdown enclosures?
Treat it as an indoor industrial part. The rating on the grill is NEMA 12, which covers dust, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids, not rain, sleet or hose-down. For a wet or outdoor location you need hardware rated NEMA 3R, 4 or 4X instead.
4) How many grills come in a B-Line BLAVAFAGS15 order?
The BLAVAFAGS15 is supplied as a pack of 12 NEMA 12 filter grills, which is worth knowing if you only need one or two openings covered on a single panel.
5) What is a filter grill used for on a control enclosure?
It is a climate control accessory: the grill covers a ventilation opening in an enclosure and holds a filter media so cooling air can move through the box while dust and airborne debris stay out. On a NEMA 12 enclosure that is how you get airflow without giving up the dust-tight rating. Typically one grill serves as intake with a fan, another as exhaust.
