B-LINE FTACRS-2ZN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the B-Line Flextray CRS-2 UL listed and CSA compliant for an institutional spec?
It is UL Classified and CSA compliant. That is the wording to put on a submittal for a job that calls for third-party classified cable tray support components. Note it is UL Classified, not UL Listed, so copy that term exactly onto the spec sheet.
2) What is the Eaton B-Line CRS-2 Flextray part used for?
FTACRS-2ZN is a Flextray wire basket cable tray component in the B-Line series, made of steel with an electro-plated (electro-galvanized) finish. It is the accessory you order to make up a Flextray run for low-voltage and data cabling rather than a standalone tray section on its own. Order it by model FTACRS-2ZN.
3) Is the electro-galvanized CRS-2 suitable for outdoor or wet locations?
No. Electro-plated zinc on steel is an indoor finish, appropriate for dry interior runs like ceiling spaces, IT rooms and plenums. For exterior, damp, or corrosive environments you want a hot-dip galvanized or stainless Flextray component rather than the ZN electro-galvanized version.
4) Can I mix this steel electro-galvanized Flextray part with a pre-galvanized or stainless run?
Mechanically the geometry matches by width and depth, so a 12 inch by 2 inch steel part fits 12 inch by 2 inch basket regardless of finish. What you lose is finish continuity: putting electro-plated zinc into a stainless or hot-dip run creates the weakest corrosion point in the system and usually fails an inspection that specified a single finish throughout.
5) What model number do I order for the B-Line electro-galvanized CRS-2?
Order model FTACRS-2ZN. The ZN suffix is the electro-galvanized zinc finish; the 2 is the 2 inch height. That single model is the orderable configuration, so there is no finish or size option to select separately.
6) How much does the CRS-2 Flextray part weigh for load and hanger calculations?
Each piece weighs 1.3 lb. At that weight the added load on a trapeze or threaded-rod hanger is negligible next to the cable fill itself, so size your supports off the cable bundle weight and the Flextray span, not the accessory.
