B-LINE FTA6HD – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the B-Line FTA6HD hold down plate used for on Flextray wire basket tray?
The FTA6HD is a steel hold down plate for Eaton B-Line Flextray wire basket cable tray. It clamps the tray wire down onto a support so the tray section stays seated on the bracket or trapeze rather than shifting during cable pulls. It is a mounting accessory only, not a tray section or a splice.
2) Is the B-Line FTA6HD hold down plate UL Classified and CSA compliant?
Yes. The FTA6HD hold down plate carries UL Classified status and CSA compliance, which is what a facility or institutional spec normally calls for on cable tray hardware.
3) What material is the Flextray FTA6HD hold down plate made of, and will it match a steel tray run?
It is steel, the same base material as a steel Flextray run, so it pairs with steel wire basket tray without a dissimilar metal mismatch at the support point.
4) Is FTA6HD a single part or a bulk pack of hold down plates?
FTA6HD is ordered as one catalog item at a listed weight of 7 lb. Given the plate itself measures well under an inch in every dimension, that weight indicates a multiple-piece quantity rather than a single clip, so order by the catalog number and expect a quantity of plates for a tray run.
5) Do I need hold down plates if I'm already using Flextray support brackets?
Yes, in most runs. Brackets and trapeze supports carry the tray's load, but they don't by themselves restrain the basket from lifting or sliding. The FTA6HD plate is the piece that locks the tray wires to the support, which matters on vertical drops, elbows, and anywhere heavy cable pulls put lateral force on the run.
