B-LINE SB87023S3FB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is this B-Line cable manager single sided or does it manage cable front and rear?
It is a single sided horizontal manager, so it provides a pathway on one side of the rack only. If you need managed cable on both the front and rear, order two units. The design does allow cable to be routed between front and rear managers, which is how you cross from one side of the rack to the other.
2) How many rack units does the B-Line RCM horizontal cable manager take up?
At 4.2 inches tall it occupies roughly 2.4 rack units, since one RU is 1.75 inches. Practically, plan for either a 3U opening or check that the mounting holes line up with your panel layout before you allocate space in the cabinet.
3) What is the B-Line SB87023S3FB made of, and will the finish hold up in a data room or industrial space?
The body is 14 gauge steel with a flat black powder coat finish, and the fingers and trim components are black plastic. Powder coated steel at 14 gauge is a structural-weight panel rather than a light formed cover, so it carries loaded bundles without sagging. Total weight is 3.1 lb.
4) Is the Eaton B-Line RCM cable manager UL listed for use in a commercial telecom room?
UL is the certification carried on the RCM rack mounted horizontal cable manager. That is often what an institutional or government spec calls for on rack accessories, so it can be cited on a submittal.
5) Does the B-Line horizontal cable manager stick out far enough to clear patch panel cords?
Projection off the rail is 5.5 inches, which gives the bend radius room a jumper needs as it leaves a patch panel port and turns into the manager. Keep that 5.5 inches in mind if your cabinet has a front door or a shallow aisle.
6) Will this black cable manager match the rest of my B-Line open frame rack hardware?
The finish is flat black powder coat with black plastic components, the same finish family used across Eaton B-Line series open frame racks, so it blends with black racks, panels and vertical managers rather than standing out as a mismatched piece.
7) What part number do I order for the B-Line 23-inch single sided horizontal cable manager?
Order Eaton B-Line part number SB87023S3FB. That is the RCM rack mounted single sided horizontal cable manager, 23 inches wide, 4.2 inches high, 5.5 inches deep, in flat black.
