B-LINE SB596S19103AFB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Eaton B-Line SB596S19103AFB shelf fit a standard 19 inch open frame rack?
Yes. The SB596S19103AFB is built at 19.56 in wide, which is the standard 19 inch EIA rack mounting width once the mounting flanges are included. It bolts to the rack rails rather than resting on the floor of a cabinet.
2) How deep is the B-Line SB596S19103AFB rack shelf, and will gear hang off the back?
It gives you 20 in of depth. Anything deeper than 20 in front to back will overhang, so measure your switch, amp, or media box before ordering. At 6 in of height it occupies roughly 3 rack spaces of vertical clearance on an open frame rack.
3) What does double sided mean on this B-Line rack mounted shelf?
Double sided means the shelf is made to mount to front and rear rails on a two post or four post open frame rack, so it is supported from both sides instead of cantilevered off the front rails alone. That matters when you are loading heavier equipment onto an open relay rack.
4) Is the SB596S19103AFB a solid shelf or a vented one?
Solid. The SB596S19103AFB is a heavy duty solid shelf, so it has a continuous deck with no perforations. If you need airflow up through the deck for heat producing gear, a vented shelf is the better call.
5) What material and finish is this Eaton B-Line rack shelf, and will it match black racks already installed?
Aluminum with a flat black powder coat, which is the standard finish on B-Line open frame relay racks, so it matches a black rack lineup. Aluminum also keeps it light, the shelf weighs 5 lb.
6) Do I need to order rack screws separately for this B-Line shelf?
Plan on it. The shelf is sold as the shelf itself, so match your mounting hardware to the rail thread your rack uses, commonly 12-24 or 10-32 on tapped equipment rails. Buying a bag of rack screws and washers with the shelf saves a second trip.
7) Can this shelf be used in an enclosed server cabinet instead of an open rack?
It is made for Eaton B-Line open frame racks. Fit in a cabinet depends on your cabinet's rail to rail depth, and this shelf's 20 in depth plus its 19.56 in width have to clear inside the enclosure. On an open two post or four post frame there is nothing to interfere with it.
