The RESBFB is an equipment support bracket for two-post open frame racks. It mounts to the rack rails and carries the rear or underside of gear that is too deep or too heavy to hang on its front ears alone, such as switches, patch panels and small chassis. It is an accessory, not a shelf or a rack.

The bracket measures 13 inches on the length/depth dimension, 3 inches high and 1.6 inches wide. That 13 inch run is the usable support surface behind the rail, so gear up to roughly that depth is carried along its whole footprint. Anything deeper overhangs the end of the bracket and needs a full-depth shelf or a four-post rack instead.

Two. Each RESBFB is a single bracket at 1.5 lb, so a piece of gear supported on a two-post rack takes one on the left rail and one on the right, mounted at matching hole positions so the equipment sits level.

A shelf is the better call for gear with no ears at all, like a desktop UPS or a media converter, since a shelf gives a continuous platform. It is specified for two-post open frame rack applications. A four-post rack or a cabinet has rear rails already, so the normal answer there is a pair of rail-to-rail rack rails or a four-post shelf rather than this bracket.
