B-LINE SB704197424FB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is this an open frame rack or an enclosed cabinet?
Open frame. The B-Line SB704197424FB is a wall-mounted open rack, meaning exposed uprights with no doors, side panels, or roof. That gives you free air movement and access to cabling from every side, but no dust protection and no way to lock equipment away. If the room is public or dirty, choose an enclosed cabinet instead.
2) What are the overall dimensions of this B-Line open frame rack?
The SB704197424FB measures 74.5 in height, 74.25 in width, and 24 in depth. The 24 inch depth is what matters most for a closet or corridor install, since the frame will stand off the wall that far before you add cable management or gear that overhangs.
3) How heavy is the B-Line SB704197424FB rack frame itself?
22.9 lb for the frame. That is light for a rack this tall because the uprights are aluminum with steel extension brackets, so one person can hold it while a second sets the anchors. The load you plan to hang on it, not the frame weight, is what drives your fastener and wall-substrate choice.
4) What is the exact part number to order this B-Line wall-mount rack?
Order Eaton B-Line model SB704197424FB. That single number covers the flat black powder coat, offset center, 19 inch panel mount configuration with aluminum uprights and steel extension brackets.
5) What does the offset center design on this B-Line rack do for cable routing?
The SB704197424FB uses an offset center configuration, which shifts the mounting plane relative to the wall attachment so cable can pass behind the panels rather than being pinched between the gear and the wall. It also gives you working room to dress patch cords and reach rear connections on a wall-mounted frame.
6) Will this rack corrode or scratch up in a mechanical room or garage?
The frame carries a flat black powder coat over aluminum uprights and steel extension brackets. Powder coat holds up to handling and normal indoor humidity better than wet paint, and the aluminum uprights themselves will not rust if the coating gets nicked during install. Flat black also keeps the frame visually quiet in a finished space.
