The SB556096AL provides 45 mounting spaces on a 96 inch high frame, in the standard 19 inch equipment width. That is the usable panel space for switches, patch panels and rack-mount servers, and it is the number to plan your elevation drawing against.

Yes. The SB556096AL is built as a seismic zone 4 network bay open duct rack, and it is UL Listed. For a zone 4 job the rack is only half the picture: it has to be anchored to the slab and, on a tall 96 inch frame, braced overhead per the structural engineer's detail.

Double sided means the frame carries mounting rails accessible from both faces, so you can load equipment and terminate from either side rather than working one front elevation only. There are no doors or side panels on it, which is the trade-off: full access and airflow, no physical security. If you need a locked enclosure, an open frame like this is the wrong choice.

The top angle gives you a structural member across the top of the frame to attach ladder rack, cable runway, or overhead seismic bracing to. On a network bay build it is where the duct and runway land, which is why this one is described as an open duct rack.

The frame material is steel to ASTM A1011SS, with a brushed aluminum surface finish. So it is a steel rack finished to look like brushed aluminum, not an aluminum extrusion. Worth knowing if you are bonding and grounding the bay: you are working with a steel structure.
