B-LINE SB8361908429FB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How much rack-mount equipment space do the mounting rails give me?
The mounting rails are punched for 12 panel units, so you get 12U of usable mounting space on this Eaton B-Line frame. Add up the U height of your switches, patch panels, UPS, and any blanking panels first, since 12U fills quickly once a UPS and horizontal managers go in.
2) Is this Eaton B-Line rack UL Listed for an inspected installation?
Yes, model SB8361908429FB is UL Listed, which is what a plans examiner or facility electrical inspector will typically ask to see on communications and equipment mounting hardware.
3) What is it made of, and will the finish hold up in a telecom or mechanical room?
Steel construction with a flat black powder coat. Powder coat over steel handles the scuffs and contact wear of a working equipment room better than a painted finish, and flat black keeps it consistent with most other black-finished racks and cable management already in the room.
4) Will standard 19-inch rack equipment fit this Eaton B-Line frame?
The rails are punched in panel units, 12 of them, which is the standard rack-mount pitch that 19-inch EIA panels and switches bolt into. Confirm your equipment is 19-inch rack width gear rather than 23-inch telco width, and note the 20.313 inch overall frame width leaves little side clearance for oversized flanges.
5) How heavy is the SB8361908429FB frame, and can one person set it?
It weighs 67.7 lb bare. That is manageable for two people to walk in and stand up, but at 84 inches tall it is awkward for one person alone, and the empty weight is well under what the loaded equipment will add, so plan your floor or wall anchoring for the loaded figure rather than the 67.7 lb shipping mass.
6) Do I need to allow extra depth behind this rack for cabling?
The frame itself is 29 inches deep. Deep-chassis servers, rear cable managers, and service loops all live beyond that, so allow working clearance in front and behind rather than sizing the closet to the 29 inch figure alone.
