B-LINE SB5879140TG – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the B-Line SB5879140TG rack hold standard 19 inch rack-mount equipment with 12-24 screws?
The SB5879140TG is drilled for 12-24 panel mounting holes, so any panel or chassis you mount needs 12-24 screws (not 10-32). It gives 67 mounting spaces of usable height on an 11 gauge steel frame, with mounting holes in the base, upright and top channel.
2) Is this B-Line open frame rack rated for a Seismic Zone 4 installation?
Yes. The SB5879140TG is a Seismic Zone 4 network bay closed duct rack, built from 11 gauge steel with a top channel style frame. That is the version specified for the highest seismic zone, so it is what you order for California data centers and central offices where the drawing calls for seismic bracing.
3) Does this rack need to be floor anchored, and how heavy is it?
The rack weighs 153.26 lb bare and has mounting holes in the base, which is how a Seismic Zone 4 bay gets anchored to the slab. At 140 in tall and 23 in wide it is not freestanding once loaded, so plan on floor anchors and, where the installation calls for it, top bracing off the top channel.
4) Is this an open frame rack or an enclosed cabinet?
It is an open frame two-post style network bay, not a cabinet. There are no doors, side panels or fans, so equipment is reached from all sides and cooling comes from the room. If you need lockable access or dust control for a shared space, an enclosed cabinet is the right call instead.
5) Is the B-Line SB5879140TG UL Listed?
Yes, the SB5879140TG carries a UL Listed mark, which is usually what an institutional or government spec is looking for on telecom rack and frame submittals.
6) What color is this rack, and will it match other telco frames already in my room?
The finish is a Telco gray powder coat, the standard color for central office and network bay framework, so it lines up visually with existing telco-gray runway and bays. Steel construction throughout.
7) What is the exact part number to order this 140 inch B-Line seismic network bay?
Order Eaton B-Line part number SB5879140TG. That covers the 140 in tall, 23 in wide, top channel, Telco gray, 12-24 hole, 67 space Seismic Zone 4 closed duct bay.
