B-LINE SB7171946OTG – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the B-Line SB7171946OTG cable trough fit a standard 19 inch rack?
Yes. The trough measures 19 inches wide, which is the standard EIA rack mounting width, and it takes up 2 mounting spaces (2U) of vertical rack height. Depth is 4 inches, so it sits shallow on the rack face rather than eating usable equipment depth.
2) How much rack space does a 2U cable trough organizer take, and what is its overall height?
It occupies 2 rack mounting spaces, and overall height is 6.5 inches. That is taller than the 3.5 inches a 2U panel opening covers, so plan for the trough body extending above or below the mounting flanges when you lay out panels and switches around it.
3) Is an open trough better than a closed duct for routing patch cords on an open frame rack?
An open trough design like this one lets you drop cords in from the top and pull them back out without removing a cover, which is what you want on an open two post or four post frame where patch cords change often. A closed cable duct with a snap cover is the better choice when you need the bundle fully contained and dressed permanently, or where you want the cabling hidden inside an enclosed cabinet.
4) What is the B-Line cable trough organizer made of, and will the finish match other telco gray rack gear?
Steel construction with a telco gray powder coat, the same finish family used across Eaton B-Line open frame racks, so it blends with existing telco gray racks and accessories in a frame or MDF room.
5) What is the exact part number to order the Eaton B-Line telco gray 2U cable trough?
Order it as SB7171946OTG. That is the Eaton B-Line manufacturer part number for the telco gray powder coat cable trough organizer, and it is a single configuration part, no finish or size options to specify.
6) Can one person mount this cable trough on an installed rack without help?
At 6 pounds it is a one person mount on an already anchored rack. The 19 inch steel body is light enough to hold against the rails with one hand while you start the first screw.
