B-LINE SB5641048TG – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What are the dimensions and weight of the B-Line SB5641048TG rack extension?
The extension measures 19 inches wide, 48 inches high and 48 inches in length/depth, and weighs 45 lb. The 19 inch width is the standard EIA rack width, so standard 19 inch rack-mount equipment and patch panels fit it. At 45 lb it is a two-person lift when you are working overhead on top of an existing rack.
2) Can I use the SB5641048TG as a standalone rack?
No. It is an extension section, meant to mount on top of an existing Eaton B-Line open frame rack to add mounting height. If you need a freestanding frame, order a complete B-Line open frame rack base instead and add this section to it afterward.
3) Will this match the gray racks already in my telecom room?
If the existing racks are Eaton B-Line open frame in telco gray, yes, the finish is the same telco gray powder coat. That is the standard color across B-Line's open frame telecom line, so an added section blends with the rest of the row visually.
4) Should I use an open frame rack extension or a fully enclosed cabinet?
An open frame section like this leaves all four sides accessible, which is what you want for patch panels, heavy cabling and passive cooling in a secured telecom closet. Choose an enclosed cabinet instead when the room is shared or public and the equipment needs to be locked away, or when you need forced-air cooling and dust control. The open frame gives faster cable access and easier moves and changes.
5) Is this rack extension steel or aluminum?
Steel, with a telco gray powder coat finish. That is the usual choice for telecom and data rooms where the rack is carrying heavy switchgear and battery backup loads, and the powder coat holds up in unconditioned MDF and IDF spaces.
6) Does the B-Line SB5641048TG carry a UL or seismic listing?
No certifications are attributed to this rack extension section. If your project drawings call for a seismically rated or listed rack assembly, specify a product where that rating is called out in the spec.
