B-LINE SB100204BYZ – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What thread size is the B-Line SB100204BYZ V-bolt, and will it take standard 1/2 inch hardware?
It's a 1/2"-13 thread, so it mates with standard 1/2 inch coarse (UNC) nuts and washers. Bolt length is 4 inches. That's the common size for open frame rack and strut anchoring work, so any 1/2-13 hex nut or channel nut in your stock will thread on.
2) Is yellow zinc plating on this B-Line V-bolt OK for outdoor or damp locations?
The finish is yellow zinc chromate over steel, which is a corrosion-resistant plating intended for indoor and protected environments. It holds up in a dry electrical room, telecom closet or covered space. For direct weather exposure, wash-down areas or coastal installs, specify hot-dip galvanized or stainless hardware instead.
3) Does the B-Line V bolt come with nuts, or do I have to order them separately?
What ships is the V bolt itself, model designation "V" bolt, MPN SB100204BYZ, in steel with yellow zinc chromate. Plan on sourcing the 1/2-13 nuts and any washers you need for the connection as separate line items.
4) What is a V bolt used for on an open frame rack?
A V bolt clamps around round or irregular members, the V shape seating against the pipe or rod while the threaded leg takes a nut. On Eaton B-Line open frame rack and support work it's the piece used to tie a bolted connection to a round section rather than a flat drilled hole. Steel with yellow zinc, 1/2-13 thread, 4 inch bolt length.
