Four mounting spaces are required for the SB596S23153SFB shelf. Plan on four rack units of clear front rail space, and check the openings above and below if you are stacking gear tight.

The shelf measures 23.31 inches wide overall, which is the panel width that spans a 19 inch rack's mounting rails and lands on the rail holes at each side. Depth into the rack is 30 inches, so make sure you have that much clear depth plus room for cable behind whatever sits on the shelf.

#12-24 mounting hardware is included with the shelf, so you are not sourcing screws separately. That does mean the rack rails need to be #12-24 tapped; if your frame is 10-32 tapped or uses square-hole cage nuts, you will need hardware to match your rails instead.

Double sided means the shelf bolts to front and rear mounting rails rather than cantilevering off the front alone, so it wants a frame with rails on both sides of the 30 inch depth. On a single two post relay rack with only front rails there is nothing to pick up the back of the shelf. For front-only mounting, use a cantilever style shelf instead.

Solid steel, not vented, in a heavy duty construction. Solid is what you want for stacking small enclosures, batteries, tools, or anything that would fall through a vented pan. If the equipment sitting on it relies on bottom intake airflow, a vented shelf is the better call.

Flat black powder coat over steel, which is the standard finish on Eaton B-Line open frame racks and the usual match for black data room frames. It is a flat, not gloss, black, so expect a slight sheen difference next to a gloss painted frame.

The shelf weighs 20.8 lb on its own. That is manageable for one person on a low opening, but because it lands on front and rear rails across a 30 inch depth, a second set of hands makes lining up all four mounting spaces much easier at head height.

The shelf itself is 6 inches in height as a component, and it consumes four mounting spaces in the rack frame. Measure from the shelf surface up to the next installed device to work out usable clearance for what you are setting on it.
