B-LINE SB5773090TG – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What thread do the rail holes use on this Eaton B-Line open rack, and do I need to order rack screws separately?
The rails are tapped with 12-24 panel mounting holes, so you need 12-24 rack screws to hang equipment. Cage nuts and square-hole hardware will not work here, it is a tapped-hole rack, not a square-punch rack.
2) Is this rack rated for a Seismic Zone 4 install?
Yes. The SB5773090TG is built as a Seismic Zone 4 network bay closed duct rack, in 11 gauge ASTM A1011SS steel, and it is UL Listed. It still has to be anchored to the floor per the structural detail for the site, since the seismic rating depends on correct anchorage.
3) Does the B-Line SB5773090TG come with side panels or a door, or is it an open frame?
It is an open frame rack, not an enclosure. There are no side panels, doors or locking access, equipment is exposed on all sides. If the room needs physical security or airflow containment at the rack, you want a cabinet instead of this network bay.
4) Is 11 gauge steel heavy enough for a fully loaded network bay?
11 gauge ASTM A1011SS structural steel is the heavy-frame spec B-Line uses for seismic network bays, not the lighter gauge found on light-duty relay racks. That is what lets the same frame carry a full 56 spaces of loaded gear and hold a Seismic Zone 4 rating.
5) What color is this Eaton B-Line rack, and will it match existing telco equipment in a central office?
The finish is Telco gray powder coat over steel, the standard gray used through central office and telecom equipment rooms, so it lines up visually with existing bays.
6) How heavy is this rack and can one person set it?
The rack weighs 121 pounds bare, and it is 90 inches tall, so it is a two-person lift to stand up and hold plumb while the floor anchors go in.
