The rails are punched with 12-24 panel mounting holes, so panels, switches and patch panels that ship with 12-24 screws thread straight in. If your gear came with 10-32 or M6 hardware, you'll need to source 12-24 rack screws to match this rack rather than reuse the screws in the box.

The Eaton B-Line open frame rack is a Seismic Zone 4 design, which is the highest of the legacy seismic zone classifications and what specs in California and other high-activity regions typically call for. It is also UL Listed. Anchoring to the slab per the structural drawing is what makes that rating real on site.

The frame is 19 inches wide, which is the standard equipment mounting width for network and telecom gear. Set your footprint from that plus working aisle on both sides, since an open rack is accessed front and rear rather than through doors.

An open duct rack gives you two-post access from every side, the easiest cable management, and no airflow restriction, which is why it is the normal choice in telecom closets, MDF/IDF rooms and network bays where the room itself is locked. Go to an enclosed cabinet instead when the equipment sits in a shared or public space and needs physical security, dust protection, or ducted containment airflow.

Telco gray powder coat over steel, which is the standard telecom rack color, so it lines up visually with existing Telco gray frames and ladder rack in the same room. The powder coat also holds up better than paint against screwdriver and rail wear.

The frame itself is 77.91 lb, so two people can walk it into a closet and stand it up without a lift. Remember that is the empty frame, the anchors and the loaded equipment weight are what your floor and seismic anchorage calculation actually has to carry.

The top channel is the horizontal member across the head of the frame that ties the two uprights together and gives you a place to land overhead ladder rack, cable runway, and vertical duct. If you are tying multiple frames into a continuous network bay, that top channel is what the runway bolts to.
