B-LINE SB5766108YZ – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the B-Line SB5766108YZ rack take 12-24 screws or does it need cage nuts?
The mounting rails are punched with 12-24 tapped panel mounting holes, so equipment mounts directly with 12-24 rack screws. No cage nuts and no square-hole hardware are involved. If your switches and patch panels are supplied with M6 or 10-32 hardware, order 12-24 screws to match the rails.
2) Is this B-Line rack rated for seismic zone 4 installations?
Yes. The SB5766108YZ is a seismic zone 4 network bay open duct rack, built from 6 gauge steel to ASTM A1011SS. That is the specification to cite when a hospital, data center or California jurisdiction drawing calls for seismic-rated rack framing. It is also UL Listed.
3) How many rack units does the Eaton B-Line SB5766108YZ open frame rack give me?
48 mounting spaces on a 108 inch frame. That is usable panel space for switches, patch panels and rack-mount servers, with the top angle style leaving the top open for ladder rack or cable runway attachment rather than closing it off.
4) Is the SB5766108YZ an enclosed cabinet or an open frame rack?
Open frame. There are no side panels, no doors and no locking enclosure, so cabling and airflow are unobstructed from all four sides and every piece of gear is physically accessible. If the room is shared, in a public corridor, or the equipment needs to be locked away, an enclosed cabinet is the right choice instead.
5) What is the ordering part number for this 108 inch B-Line seismic rack?
Order it as Eaton B-Line part number SB5766108YZ. The number decodes the build: 108 inch height and YZ for the yellow zinc finish.
6) Does this B-Line open rack come with cable management or does that need to be ordered separately?
What you get is the 6 gauge steel frame with 12-24 tapped rails and a top angle for overhead attachment. Vertical cable managers, horizontal panels, cable runway and the seismic floor anchors are separate items and should be added to the order to finish the install.
7) What does the yellow zinc finish on this B-Line rack mean for grounding and indoor use?
Yellow zinc is a plated conductive finish over the steel frame, unlike a painted or powder coated rack where paint has to be scraped or thread-forming hardware used at ground points. It is an indoor finish for equipment rooms and telecom closets, not an outdoor or corrosive-environment coating.
