The N528SS6 channel nut is tapped 3/8"-16, so it accepts 3/8"-16 threaded rod, hex bolts, or all-thread hangers. If your rod is 1/2"-13 or 1/4"-20, this is the wrong nut for the run.

It is Type 316 stainless. That is the marine and chemical grade, so it suits coastal installs, wastewater plants, food processing washdown, and rooftop work where plated steel would rust out. Pair it with 316 stainless strut and 316 rod so you are not mixing metals in the same joint.

Both thread the same way into the channel, but the spring version carries a coil spring under the nut body that pushes it up against the channel lips. That means it stays exactly where you set it while you line up the bracket and start the bolt, which is the difference between a one-hand install overhead and dropping nuts down a run of strut. A plain nut without the spring has to be held in position. The N528SS6 is the spring type.

The nut ships on its own. You supply the 3/8"-16 hardware that goes through it, whether that is a hex head bolt, a threaded rod with a hanger, or a bolt and washer stack. For a fully corrosion resistant joint, order the mating bolts and washers in 316 stainless too.

Each nut weighs .09 lb. Handy when you are counting out a few hundred for a conduit or pipe support package and need shipping weight for the submittal.
