The plate footprint is 6 inches by 6 inches with an overall height of 3.5 inches. That 6 x 6 square gives you room to work around a standard four-bolt anchor layout on concrete, but the post socket is centered on the plate, so your strut column lands dead center of that 6 inch square. Lay out anchors from the center point, not from an edge.

Centered is what you want when the strut column has to sit in the middle of its footing or pad, which is the usual case for free-standing rooftop equipment supports, pipe stands, and sign or light posts. Choose an offset base instead when the column has to run tight against a wall or curb and you cannot get anchors on one side. The B280SQYZN is the centered version.

Yellow zinc chromate on steel is a plated corrosion coating meant for indoor and sheltered service. For a rooftop, exterior, or wash-down location, spec a hot-dip galvanized or stainless post base instead. The B280SQYZN is the yellow zinc chromate plated steel version.

What ships is the steel base itself, 3.92 pounds of it. Concrete anchors, bolts, or through-bolts for fastening to the deck are sized to your substrate and are ordered separately, as are the channel nuts and bolts you use to fasten the strut column into the base.
