Solid brass. The substrate is brass throughout, not a zinc die casting with a brass coating, which is why the finishes wear the way they do rather than flaking off a pot metal core.

It is a cabinet knob, 1-1/2 inches across, for drawer fronts and cabinet doors. It mounts with a single screw through the face of the drawer or door and does not latch anything. For a passage or privacy knob on a room door you need a full knob set with a rose, spindle, and latch, not this.

For single family, high-end remodel, and custom cabinetry it is squarely what it is built for.

The 4430 is part of Baldwin's Estate Series cabinet line, so if you order the pulls in the same finish code the plating matches across the run. The knob itself is single hole mount, so switching a drawer to a pull later means drilling new center-to-center holes.
