Baldwin 5152003MR – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Baldwin 5152 lever come with a rose or trim plate?
No. The 5152 Estate lever is handle only, and the rose is sold separately. You pair it with the rose or escutcheon you want, or with handleset trim on a mortise lock, so budget for that second line item before you order.
2) Will the Baldwin 5152 lever work on a 1-3/8 inch interior door?
Yes. The 5152 lever covers doors from 1.375 inches up to a maximum of 1.75 inches, so both a standard 1-3/8 inch interior door and a 1-3/4 inch door are in range. Thicker than 1.75 inches is out of spec.
3) What lock does the Baldwin 5152 lever fit?
It is trim for Baldwin's tubular mortise lock platform, which is what the Estate interior passage, privacy, full dummy, and half dummy sets are built on. Order the lever, the rose or escutcheon, and the matching latch or lock body together so the assembly is complete on the job.
4) Is the Baldwin 5152 lever suitable for a commercial building corridor?
It is classed residential. The 5152 is an Estate Series decorative lever, so its natural home is homes, condos, and the residential side of multi-family or hospitality work. For a commercial corridor with cycle and grade requirements, specify a Grade 1 or Grade 2 commercial lockset instead and keep the Estate trim for guest room and unit interiors.
5) I need to replace one broken lever on a Baldwin Estate door. Can I buy just the one?
Yes. Order model 5152.LEVER as a Half Pair in the hand that matches the side you are replacing, in the finish code already on the door. Since the rose is a separate part, you can leave the existing rose in place if it is sound and swap only the handle.
6) What is the difference between Pair and Pair (PINNED) on the Baldwin 5152 lever?
Both give you two levers for one door. The PINNED option is the pinned version of the pair, ordered as its own configuration, so pick it only if your set calls for pinned levers; otherwise the standard Pair is the one to take. If you only need one side, order a Half Pair in the correct hand.
7) Can I use a Baldwin 5152 lever on one side of the door and a knob on the other?
Yes, that is how the Estate program is built. Buy a Half Pair in the hand you need and mix it with a knob on the opposite face, then choose roses to match. Baldwin covers passage and privacy interior sets this way, and the same handles go onto mortise lock sets using handleset trim or escutcheon plates.
8) How far does the Baldwin 5152 lever stick out from the door, and how long is the grip?
Projection is 2.25 inches off the face of the door, with a 4 inch lever grip. Worth checking against anything close to the opening, a door that swings back against a wall, a tight jamb return, or a pair of doors with adjacent trim, since 2.25 inches of projection plus a 4 inch lever needs clear sweep space.
9) What finishes can I get the Baldwin 5152 lever in to match the rest of my doors?
Fourteen finishes: Polished Brass, Non-Lacquered Brass, Vintage Brass, Satin Brass, Satin Brass and Black, Polished Nickel, Satin Nickel, Satin Brass and Brown, Graphite Nickel, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Venetian Bronze, Satin Black, Polished Chrome, and Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. Quote the finish number, 055 for Polished Nickel or 102 for Oil Rubbed Bronze for instance, when you are matching existing openings, and order the roses in the same code.
10) Is the Baldwin 5152 lever solid brass or plated zinc?
Solid brass construction, which is what gives the Estate levers their weight in the hand. The Polished Nickel finish is nickel plating over that brass base with a high gloss.
