Baldwin 5174022 Emergency Key

The 5174022 is Baldwin's emergency key, the small tool that releases a privacy lever from the outside when the room is locked and someone inside needs to be reached. It is a replacement part rather than a complete lockset, so it comes on its own with no lever, rose or latch. Baldwin builds it for the Estate Series and lists it as residential hardware.

Baldwin ties the 5174022 to the Estate Series. If the privacy sets in your building are Estate Series levers, this is the matching key. For Baldwin's other lines, match the key to that line instead, since the emergency release tool is specific to the series it was built for.

One per set of keys you want in circulation, not one per door. The emergency key is a loose tool, so a property manager usually keeps a couple at the front desk or on the maintenance ring rather than hanging one at every opening. It is sold as a single 2-14/25 inch key, so order the count you want to hand out.

No, a complete Baldwin privacy set ships with its own release tool. Order the 5174022 when the original went missing, when you are stocking spares for a fleet of Estate Series privacy doors, or when you are servicing existing hardware and want the tool without buying a lockset. It is a parts-and-accessories item on its own.

No. The 5174022 is made in the single 2-14/25 inch version with no finish choice. It is a hand tool that lives in a drawer or on a ring, not trim that shows on the door, so there is nothing to match to your lever finish.
