Baldwin 5199000 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Baldwin 5199000 privacy button adaptor and what does it do?
The 5199000 is a small steel adaptor part for Baldwin Estate Series lever trim. It's the piece that lets a privacy button work with the lever, so an interior door (bath or bedroom) can be locked from inside. It's a replacement/service part, not a complete lockset, so you still need the lever and rose it goes into.
2) Will the Baldwin 5199000 adaptor fit any Baldwin lever, or only Estate Series?
Estate Series only. The 5199000 is built as an Estate Series part, so if your levers are from another Baldwin line the adaptor is the wrong part. Check the collection your existing trim came from before ordering.
3) Does ordering the Baldwin 5199000 get me a full privacy lockset?
No. The 5199000 is a parts-and-accessories item, the adaptor alone. Property managers replacing a broken privacy button on Estate lever doors order this; anyone starting from a bare door needs a complete privacy leverset instead.
4) Is the Baldwin 5199000 privacy adaptor rated for commercial door traffic?
It's a residential part. Baldwin lists the 5199000 under its residential line, so for apartment interiors, condos and single-family units it's the right service part; for a high-traffic commercial opening you'd be specifying a commercial-grade lockset rather than adapting Estate residential trim.
5) I manage a building with Baldwin Estate levers on the bedroom doors. Can I stock one part number for privacy button repairs?
Yes, if the doors are all Estate Series lever trim. The 5199000 is offered in one configuration, steel, with no handing or finish choice to get wrong, so it's a single line item to keep on the shelf for privacy repairs across those openings.
