Baldwin 6760102 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Baldwin 6760 turn piece work on a 2-inch thick door?
Yes. The 6760 turn piece with backplate covers doors from 1.37 inches up to 3 inches thick, so a 2-inch door is well inside the range. The description notes the standard turn knob handles doors up to 2.25 inches, and Baldwin offers an extended turn knob in the same style past that point, so on anything thicker than 2.25 inches specify the extended version.
2) Is the Baldwin 6760 turn piece rated for commercial door traffic?
Baldwin catalogues the 6760 as residential hardware. It suits single-family homes, condo units, and interior apartment doors. For a commercial opening or a high-traffic institutional door, spec a commercial-grade mortise or cylindrical lock with matching commercial trim instead of this turn piece.
3) What finishes does the Baldwin 6760 turn piece come in?
Fourteen finishes, which is what lets you match a whole house or a floor of units: 003 Polished Brass, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass, 050 Satin Brass and Black, 055 Polished Nickel, 056 Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass and Brown, 076 Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112/11P Venetian Bronze, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. Order the turn piece in the same finish code as the lock body and exterior trim so the set reads as one suite.
4) How far does the Baldwin 6760 turn piece stick out from the door face?
Projection is 1.06 inches off the face of the door, with a 2.25 inch knob diameter. That matters where the inside face is tight against a jamb return, a pocket door casing, or a piece of furniture, and it is the number to check against any escutcheon or trim already on the door.
5) Is the Baldwin 6760 a lever or a knob style turn?
Knob. The 6760 uses a turn knob 2.25 inches in diameter on its backplate, so it is gripped and rotated rather than flipped like a lever-style thumbturn. Worth noting where a resident has limited grip strength, since a lever-shaped turn is easier to operate one-handed.
