Baldwin Estate 2-3/8" Knob Privacy Latch with Full Lip Strike

The 5510PFLS is a fixed 2-3/8 inch backset latch, meaning the center of the bore sits 2-3/8 inches from the door edge. If your door is prepped with the cross-bore centered at 2-3/4 inches from the edge, this latch will not reach the spindle correctly and you need the 2-3/4 inch backset version instead. 2-3/8 and 2-3/4 are the two standard residential backsets, so measure from the door edge to the center of the existing hole before ordering.

A full lip strike ships with the latch, measuring 1-5/8 x 2-1/4 inches. The latch faceplate itself is 1 x 2-1/4 inches. If your frame is already mortised for a different strike outline, plan on either chiseling to match the 1-5/8 x 2-1/4 footprint or filling and re-cutting.

This is the latch and strike only, not a full knob set. It is the privacy (bed and bath) latch component of Baldwin's Estate Series, sold as a replacement or build-out part. You still need the Estate knob or lever trim, roses, and spindle to make a working set.

No. Baldwin lists the Estate 5510PFLS as a residential product. For apartment interiors, single family homes, and hospitality guest room baths it is appropriate, but for a commercial opening under a specified ANSI grade you should be looking at a commercial-grade cylindrical or mortise privacy lock instead.

Privacy latches like the Estate 5510PFLS use a beveled latchbolt that reverses, so a single part serves either hand of door. Orient the bevel so the sloped face meets the strike as the door closes.

No. The 5510PFLS is the privacy function latch, built to work with a push-button or turn-button bed and bath trim. A keyed entry or passage set uses a different latch, so order the latch that matches the function of the trim you are installing.

Two finishes: 056 Lifetime PVD Satin Nickel and 190 Satin Black. Match the latch finish to the visible knob trim, since the faceplate and strike are the exposed pieces on the door edge and jamb.
