Baldwin 5123031 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the Baldwin Estate 5123 rosette include the knob, lever, and latch?
No. The 5123 rose ships with either one or two roses, the matching backplate, and the retainer or retainers that hold the rose to the door. Knobs or levers, the latch, and any adaptors are separate orders. Plan on buying the trim and latch alongside it if you are building a set from parts.
2) Should I order the 5123 rosette as a pair or a half pair?
Order the pair when you are trimming both faces of a door, and the half pair when you only need one side, such as replacing a damaged rose or finishing a half dummy application. Both options are offered in every finish the 5123 comes in.
3) What finishes does the Baldwin Estate 5123 rose come in?
Fourteen: 003 Polished Brass PVD, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass PVD, 050 Satin Brass Black, 055 Polished Nickel PVD, 056 Lifetime PVD Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass Brown, 076 Lifetime PVD Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112 Venetian Bronze, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. If you are matching existing Baldwin trim in a house or a unit, match on the finish number rather than the name, since several brass tones read similarly in photos. Note that 031 Non-Lacquered Brass is a living finish and will patina over time, while the PVD finishes hold their color.
4) Is the Baldwin 5123 rose rated for commercial door traffic?
It is a residential item in Baldwin's Estate Series. For apartment interiors, single-family, and light hospitality guestroom work it is the right family; for a high-traffic commercial opening you want a commercial-grade lockset rather than an Estate decorative rose.
5) Can the Baldwin 5123 rose be used for passage or dummy doors, not just privacy?
The 5123 rose is offered for several functions. Passage roses can build tubular passage sets or mortise sectional entry sets, and dummy roses build tubular full or half dummy sets. The privacy version is the one prepped for a privacy function, so order the rose that matches the function of the door, bathroom and bedroom doors take privacy, closets and pantries take passage or dummy.
6) I need to match the 5123 rose across several bedroom and bath doors in a unit. Will they be consistent?
Yes, as long as you specify the same finish code on every door. The 5123 is an engraved traditional rose sold in a fixed set of finish codes, so ordering the same code across a floor gives a consistent look. Buy pairs for doors trimmed on both sides and half pairs only where one face is involved.
7) Is the Baldwin Estate 5123 part of Baldwin's Quick Ship program?
The 5123 style is featured in Quick Ship as part of a complete Passage, Privacy, Full Dummy, or Half Dummy set. Quick Ship applies to the assembled set, so if you are ordering the rose on its own as a component that program does not necessarily apply.
