Baldwin Estate 8297 Cylinder Collar Spacer for 1-3/8" Doors; 2-1/8" Prep

The Baldwin Estate 8297 is the spacer ring made specifically for 1-3/8 inch doors with a 2-1/8 inch cylinder prep. On a thinner 1-3/8 inch door the cylinder sits proud of the face, and the 8297 collar takes up that gap so the trim seats flat against the door. On a standard 1-3/4 inch commercial door you don't use it.

Two. A double cylinder function has a keyed cylinder on both faces, so both sides need a ring. The 8297 is packed one per box, so order a quantity of two for a single double cylinder opening (one ring per side).

Six: 003 Polished Brass PVD, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 050 Satin Brass Black, 056 Lifetime PVD Satin Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, and 190 Satin Black. Match the code to the deadbolt you're installing, since the collar sits right against the escutcheon or rose and any mismatch shows. If you're replacing one ring on a door where the other has aged, note that 031 Non-Lacquered Brass is a living finish and will have darkened over time.

The 8297 is a residential-grade Estate Series part. For multi-family units with wood entry doors it's fine, and property managers standardizing on Baldwin Estate deadbolts across a building will want it wherever the door leaf is 1-3/8 inches. For a commercial opening with a Grade 1 deadbolt, look at a commercial cylinder collar instead.

It's a functional spacer, not just a cover. The 8297 takes up the depth difference on a 1-3/8 inch door so the cylinder and its trim pull up tight instead of standing off the face. Cosmetically it also rings the 2-1/8 inch bore, but the reason it exists is thickness, and skipping it on a thin door leaves the trim loose.

Brass. The 8297 spacer is a solid brass part, which is why it takes the same PVD and living finishes as the Estate trim it sits under and why it machines flat against the door face rather than flexing.
