Baldwin 8BR0703003 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Baldwin Reserve 8BR0703 thick door kit actually for?
It is a parts kit for a Baldwin Reserve full dummy handleset, supplying the longer mounting hardware needed to install that handleset on a thicker-than-standard door. A full dummy handleset has no latch or working mechanism, so the kit is about fasteners and mounting depth, not lock function. It is not a handleset by itself, and you order it alongside the Reserve handleset.
2) Will the 8BR0703 kit convert my dummy handleset into a working, latching set?
No. The 8BR0703 is a thick door mounting kit for a full dummy handleset, and a full dummy is pull-only trim with no latch, no cylinder, and no bolt. If you need the door to latch, you need an active handleset, not this kit.
3) Is the Baldwin 8BR0703 kit compatible with handlesets outside the Reserve line?
It is built for the Baldwin Reserve series. Baldwin's other lines, such as Estate, use their own trim and mounting hardware, so a Reserve thick door kit should be paired with a Reserve full dummy handleset.
