1) Will a BEA MS09 touchless actuator survive a wash-down area or a food processing plant?
That's what the MS09 is built for. It carries a NEMA 4 / IP65 degree of protection, so it's sealed against dust and water jets, and it mounts on the surface with conduit connectivity for a watertight wiring entry. Operating range is -4 to 131 degrees F (-20 to 55 degrees C), which covers most wash-down bays, commercial kitchens and processing floors. The housing is ABS/PC in white.
2) Can the MS09 actuator be triggered by a forklift or pallet jack, not just a hand wave?
Yes. The MS09 uses microwave Doppler radar set to bidirectional motion detection, so it picks up any moving object crossing the zone, including hands, pallet jacks and forklifts. That's the difference between it and a hand-wave-only capacitive plate: on a loading dock the driver never has to stop and reach out. The MS09 measures 3.15 in (W) x 3.23 in (H) x 2.165 in (D). It's a surface-mount box, not a flush plate, so that 2.165 inch depth stands proud of whatever you fasten it to, and you need clearance behind or beside it for the conduit entry and wiring access. On a narrow frame face, plan the conduit run before you drill.
6) What's the difference between the two MS09 faceplates when I order?
Two faceplate choices: Logo Only, or Text and Logo.
