Brady M21-375-595-WT – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will these vinyl labels hold up outdoors on exterior conduit and equipment?
Yes. The B-595 vinyl carries an average outdoor durability of 8 to 10 years and is rated for outdoor use. It resists water, oil, chemicals and abrasion, which is what matters on exterior conduit, disconnects and pump skids that get washed down or splashed with lubricant.
2) What temperature range can this Brady vinyl label tape be applied and used in?
Service range runs from -40 F to 180 F (-40 C to 82 C). Application is a separate limit: the surface needs to be at least 0 F (-18 C) when you stick the label down for the permanent acrylic adhesive to grab. In a walk-in freezer at -20 F, apply the label before the equipment goes cold, or warm the surface first.
3) Will this tape stick to rough, powder coated or textured surfaces?
The permanent acrylic adhesive on this B-595 vinyl is built for smooth, rough and powder coated surfaces, and it handles irregular shapes and low surface energy plastics. That is why it is used for conduit, painted enclosures and equipment housings rather than a paper-faced tape, which lifts on texture.
4) Do these Brady labels meet RoHS and does the tape need an SDS for our facility files?
The M21-375-595-WT tape passes EU RoHS 2011/65/EU including 2015/863, contains no heavy metals and no California Prop 65 listed substance. No SDS is required for it, and it is not a DOT regulated product, which simplifies shipping and your hazcom binder. The material also supports ASTM D 2979 and ASTM D 523 testing.
5) Is white the right choice for arc flash and safety labels, or do I need a colored tape?
White with black print is the general purpose choice and covers electrical labeling, panel and device identification, pipe markers, 5S and facility ID. For arc flash and hazard warnings where ANSI color coding is expected, buyers usually pair this white tape for the equipment data with an orange or yellow M21 B-595 cartridge for the header. Note this tape is non-reflective and has no photoluminescent rating, so it is not a substitute for glow-in-the-dark egress marking.
6) Will these labels survive cleaning agents and solvent wipe-downs in a lab or plant?
Yes. The B-595 vinyl with permanent acrylic adhesive is specified as chemical, oil, water and abrasion resistant, and the gloss printed face holds up to grease and cleaning agents. Listed applications include laboratory use as well as electrical and general facility identification.
7) What does a box of M21-375-595-WT include?
One roll per box. Because the M21 format is a cartridge, that single roll includes the white vinyl tape and the black thermal transfer ribbon together, so you are not buying ribbon separately. Print output is black on white with a gloss finish.
8) How thick is the B-595 vinyl, and will it conform around a small diameter conduit?
The vinyl is 0.004 in (0.102 mm) thick. That is a thin, flexible film, so a 0.375 in wide strip wraps cleanly around small conduit, cable and test tubes without the edges tenting the way a thicker polyester would.
