Bobrick 826.18 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What comes in the Bobrick B-826.18 soap dispenser starter kit?
The kit ships with the B-826 automatic counter-mounted liquid soap dispenser, one 800 ml lotion soap refill cartridge, and four alkaline D cell batteries. That is everything needed to put the unit into service on day one, so you are not sourcing batteries or a first cartridge separately.
2) Does the Bobrick B-826 soap dispenser need power or plumbing run to the counter?
No hardwiring and no water supply. The B-826 runs on four alkaline D cell batteries that come with the kit, so the only prep at the lavatory is the mounting hole through the deck. That is what makes it a practical retrofit on an existing counter where there is no receptacle under the sink.
3) How much clearance do I need above and behind the sink for the Bobrick B-826?
Plan for 17-11/16 inches of overall height and a 5-3/8 inch spout reach. Check the spout length against your basin so the soap drops inside the bowl and not onto the counter, and check the height against a mirror or shelf sitting close behind the deck.
4) Is the Bobrick B-826 automatic soap dispenser ADA compliant?
Yes, the B-826 is listed as ADA compliant. It is touch free, which removes the grasping and twisting effort a manual pump requires, and it mounts on the lavatory deck so it sits within reach at the fixture.
5) How big is the soap cartridge in the Bobrick B-826 and how do I know when it is low?
The cartridge holds 800 ml, about 27 fluid ounces. LED indicators on the unit signal both low soap and low battery, so housekeeping can service it on a route instead of waiting for a complaint from a tenant or a guest.
6) Will the Bobrick B-826 dispense foam soap or hand sanitizer?
No. The B-826 is a liquid soap dispenser and the kit includes a lotion soap refill. Feeding it a foaming formula or an alcohol sanitizer is not what the unit is built around, so spec a foam or sanitizer dispenser if that is the fill your facility standardizes on.
7) What finish is the Bobrick 826.18 dispenser, and will it match my chrome faucets?
Bright polished chrome is the only finish this kit is built in, which matches a standard polished chrome lavatory faucet trim. If your restrooms are standardized on brushed or matte finishes, this one will read noticeably brighter next to them.
8) Can the Bobrick B-826 be mounted on a wall instead of the counter?
No. It is a deck-mounted unit that goes through the lavatory counter or the fixture deck next to the faucet. For a wall-hung installation you need a surface-mounted or recessed dispenser instead.
9) Is the Bobrick B-826 body metal or plastic?
The dispenser is plastic with a bright polished chrome finish over it. For heavy-traffic public restrooms where vandalism is a concern, factor that in against an all-stainless unit.
