Bobrick 306 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the B-306 be surface mounted if my wall cavity is too shallow?
No. The B-306 is a recessed-only dispenser, built as a cabinet that drops into the wall and needs at least 3-7/8 inches of clear depth. On a solid or shallow wall you need a surface-mounted dispenser instead, not this one.
2) How much soap does the Bobrick B-306 hold, and how do you refill it?
Capacity is 45 fl oz (1.3 L). The soap vessel is mounted on the back of the door, so the door swings open and you fill the vessel in place, from the front, without pulling the cabinet. A refill window in the front lets housekeeping see the level without unlocking anything, which is what keeps it off the callback list in high-traffic restrooms.
3) Is the B-306 lockable so tenants or students can't tamper with the soap?
Yes. The door is secured to the cabinet with a hinge and a tumbler lock, so the vessel is only accessible to whoever holds the key. That is the reason this one gets specified in schools, correctional-adjacent spaces, and public restrooms over an open-fill dispenser.
4) What kind of soap can I use in the Bobrick B-306?
The valve dispenses all-purpose liquid soaps. It is a manual push-button valve, not a foam or a gel-specific head, so stock a standard all-purpose liquid hand soap rather than a foaming concentrate.
5) Is the Bobrick B-306 ADA compliant?
The B-306 is listed as ADA compliant. Compliance still depends on where you set it: the push-button valve has to land within the reach range for the fixture it serves, so mounting height drives the final result on an inspection.
6) What finishes does the Bobrick B-306 recessed dispenser come in?
Two: satin-finish stainless steel and matte black. Satin stainless is the one that matches most existing Bobrick washroom accessory lines already on the wall, so if you are replacing a single unit in a run of dispensers, that is the one to keep the restroom consistent.
7) Does the B-306 need power or batteries?
No power at all. It is a manual push-button valve, so there is no transformer, no battery pack, and nothing to fail when the power drops. Installation is a wall cut-out and fastening the cabinet only.
