Bobrick 72860 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the B-72860 need power or batteries?
No power at all. It's a manual pull-type dispenser, so there's nothing to wire and no batteries to change out on a maintenance route. The mechanism is described as touch-free in that the user grabs the exposed towel tail rather than a handle or crank, but the feed itself is driven by the pull, not by a sensor.
2) Is the Bobrick B-72860 recessed or does it mount on the wall surface?
Surface mounted. It hangs on the finished wall face, so there's no wall cavity to cut and no framing coordination, which is what makes it the usual pick for a retrofit or a tenant-improvement job where the walls are already closed up. If you need a flush look, you'd be shopping a recessed cabinet instead, which has to be roughed in before the wall is finished.
3) Is the Bobrick B-72860 lockable to stop towel theft?
The cabinet locks, and it ships with both a removable key and a permanent key. For a property manager running multiple buildings, that means one key can stay with the janitorial cart while the removable key stays with the office, and the cover can't be popped for a free case of towels.
4) Will the plastic B-72860 hold up in a busy public restroom, or should I be looking at stainless?
The cabinet is high-impact resin, not metal, with a translucent cover so staff can see the roll level without unlocking it. Resin is the normal choice for offices, schools, and healthcare corridors where the dispenser isn't taking abuse. In a highway rest stop, stadium, correctional facility, or anywhere vandalism is a real problem, specify a stainless steel cabinet instead.
5) Can I see when the Bobrick B-72860 needs refilling without opening it?
Yes, the cover is translucent, so a housekeeper on a walk-through can read the remaining roll at a glance and skip the unlock-and-check step on every cabinet. Paired with the stub roll feature, that lets you top up on a schedule rather than reacting to an empty dispenser.
