1) Will the Bobrick B-8872 automatic faucet fit my existing sink deck?
The B-8872 is a deck mounted, counter mounted faucet, so it drops into a standard single hole in the countertop or sink deck. The body measures 2 3/4 inches wide with a 6 1/2 inch spout reach, which is the number to check against the distance from your deck hole to the bowl or backsplash on a shallow lavatory.
2) Does the Bobrick 8872 touchless faucet need to be hardwired, or does it run on batteries?
Out of the box it runs on 4 AA batteries, so no electrician and no power at the lavatory is required. If you would rather run it off line power, there is a 6V AC adapter option, and it takes two parts ordered together: part no. 8878-72 AC Power Converter and part no. 8878-73 Inline Connector. Neither is included with the faucet.
3) Is the Bobrick B-8872 faucet ADA compliant for a public restroom?
Yes, the B-8872 is stated ADA compliant. It is a hands free sensor faucet, so there is no handle to grip, twist, or pinch at the lavatory.
4) I am replacing a two-handle lavatory faucet with a touchless one. Is the 8872 the right swap?
Only if the existing fixture is single hole. The 8872 is a deck mounted single body faucet 2 3/4 inches wide, so on a 4 inch centerset or 8 inch widespread deck you will be left with open holes and need an escutcheon plate to cover them. Check the deck drilling before you order, not the old faucet.
5) What finishes does the Bobrick B-8872 come in, and will they match my soap dispensers?
Five finishes: matte black, polished chrome, polished nickel, brushed nickel, and polished brass. Bobrick states these match the Designer Series soap dispensers exactly, so if you are specifying both on the same lavatory deck you can order the pair in the same finish and get a true match rather than a close one.
6) Can the B-8872 sensor faucet be adjusted after install if it runs too long or trips on its own?
Yes. The 8872 has adjustable time-out duration and adaptable sensor range, so a facilities tech can shorten the run time or pull the detection range in if the fixture is picking up a wall, a partition, or the next bowl over. It also has line purging and LEED flow-rate options if you are specifying to a water use target.
