Metallics JBHC2BLK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How many bolts come in the Metallics JBHC2BLK package?
One hundred bolts, packed in a jar rather than a loose bag or bulk box. The jar keeps the count contained on a service truck or in a parts bin, which is how most electrical contractors buy small fasteners like this.
2) What does the BO finish on the Metallics JBHC2BLK bolt mean, and is it OK outdoors?
BO is black oxide, a dark conversion coating. It is a light-duty, indoor finish with minimal corrosion resistance on its own, so for wet, damp, or exterior locations use a hot-dip galvanized or stainless 1/4-20 hex bolt instead.
3) Can I use 1/4-20 x 1 inch black oxide hex bolts with strut channel and electrical supports?
Yes, that is the usual application. 1/4-20 is a common size for strut channel nuts, box and enclosure mounting, beam clamps, and small hanger hardware on electrical work. The 1 inch length suits thin brackets plus a channel nut; for thicker stacked assemblies step up to a longer bolt.
4) Do the Metallics JBHC2BLK bolts come with nuts or washers?
No. The JBHC2BLK is a jar of 100 hex bolts only, 1/4-20 x 1 inch. Order 1/4-20 hex nuts, flat washers, lock washers, or strut channel nuts separately to complete the assembly.
5) Is JBHC2BLK the exact Metallics part number to order?
Yes. JBHC2BLK is the Metallics manufacturer part number for the 1/4-20 x 1 inch hex bolt, black oxide, jar of 100, and it is the only configuration sold under that number.
