Grade 9 is a higher strength class than SAE Grade 8, so the JG9HC32 is specified where a Grade 5 or Grade 8 fastener is not enough for the clamp load. Practically, it means you should not substitute a lower grade 3/4-10 bolt into a joint the engineer called out as Grade 9, and the mating nut should be rated to match the bolt rather than being a common Grade 2 or Grade 5 nut.

At 1-1/2 inches of overall length under the hex head, the JG9HC32 is a short bolt meant for thin stack-ups, roughly bolting two pieces of structural steel, strut, or equipment flange totalling about an inch once you allow for the nut and a washer. If your combined material thickness plus washers and nut exceeds that, you need a longer 3/4-10 bolt instead; threads running short of the nut face is the usual failure here.

The jar contains the 3/4-10 x 1-1/2 Grade 9 hex cap bolts only, 25 of them. Nuts and washers are separate line items, and for a Grade 9 bolt you want a nut and hardened washers rated to the bolt's strength class rather than general purpose hardware.

Hex cap, meaning a six sided head driven with a 3/4-10 bolt's standard wrench flats and no square shoulder or dome. It needs wrench or socket access on the head side, unlike a carriage bolt that locks itself in a square hole. For electrical work it shows up anchoring enclosures, transformer bases, busway supports, and heavy strut connections.
