1) Can I use these silicon bronze bolts on a federally funded or Buy American job?
No. The JBBH2 bronze hex bolts are not Buy American compliant and not ARRA compliant, and country of origin is listed as multiple. If your contract carries a domestic-sourcing clause, these will not satisfy it.
2) How many bolts come in a jar of Metallics JBBH2, and can I buy a smaller quantity?
JBBH2 ships as a jar of 100 bolts, and the jar is the order minimum, so 100 pieces is the smallest buy. Metallics does offer other sizes and quantities in the BBH and JBBH series by request.
3) Why pick silicon bronze over stainless or galvanized steel for these bolts?
Silicon bronze to ASTM F468 is chosen where corrosion and galvanic compatibility matter more than raw strength: grounding and bonding, copper busbar and lugs, marine and wet locations, and anywhere a steel fastener against copper would corrode. Against copper hardware bronze is the closer match galvanically than stainless or zinc-plated steel. The bolts carry a bronze finish, so they also blend in on exposed copper work.
4) Do nuts and washers come with the Metallics JBBH2 bolts?
The jar contains 100 hex bolts only. Nuts and washers are separate, and for a bonding connection you want them in matching silicon bronze so you are not putting dissimilar metals in the joint. Any standard 1/4-20 nut threads on, since the bolt threads follow ANSI/ASME B1.1.
