They are 3/8-16 bolts: 16 threads per inch, with a measured body diameter of 0.3690 to 0.3750 in. Threads are cut to ASME B18.2.1-2012, so they take a standard 3/8-16 nut or tapped hole. If your equipment is tapped 3/8-24 fine thread, these will not thread in.
2) How strong is a grade 5 hex bolt, and is it strong enough to mount a motor?
Grade 5 means medium carbon steel, heat treated, with 120,000 psi minimum tensile and 92,000 psi minimum yield strength, and a hardness of Rockwell C25-34. That is the usual choice for bolting a motor to machinery and for automotive and truck repair work. For connections engineered to grade 8 or to a stainless spec, grade 5 is not a substitute.
