Metallics JMHTB1230 Bolts M12 X 30 C8.8 Hx Tap Blt St-zn (Jar 50)

It's an M12 x 30mm hex tap bolt with a 1.75mm thread pitch, right hand thread. That's the standard coarse pitch for M12, so it mates with M12 x 1.75 nuts and tapped holes. Shank length is 30mm.

Fully threaded. The threads run the entire shank right up to directly beneath the head, which is what makes it a tap bolt rather than a conventional hex cap screw with a grip length. Use it where you need thread engagement at any depth in a tapped hole, such as bolting a motor to machinery. If your joint needs an unthreaded shank bearing in the hole for shear alignment, a partially threaded hex cap screw is the better choice.

Class 8.8 is the medium carbon, heat treated grade, rated here at 120,350 psi minimum tensile and 95,700 psi minimum yield, with hardness Rockwell C23-34. That is the metric equivalent tier to an SAE Grade 5 bolt and is the common choice for motor mounts and machinery anchoring. If your drawing calls out Class 10.9 or 12.9, this is not a substitute.

No on both counts. The JMHTB1230 is not Buy American compliant and is not ARRA compliant, with country of origin listed as multiple. If you are buying for a federally funded job with domestic sourcing requirements, this bolt will not satisfy that clause and you need a domestically produced fastener instead.

The finish is zinc plating over steel. That handles indoor industrial, mechanical room, and general electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning work, and it gives light corrosion protection in dry or occasionally damp conditions. For sustained outdoor exposure, washdown, or coastal service, specify hot dip galvanized or stainless instead; zinc plate will eventually rust through.

It ships as a jar of 50 pieces, and 50 each is the order minimum, so the jar is the smallest unit sold. Total shipping weight of the jar is 1,678 g. Other sizes and quantities in the MHTB and JMHTB series are available by request if 50 of this size is not what you need.

No separate flat washer is required for the bearing face itself. The hex head is formed with a washer face beneath it, giving a clean, square seating surface against the mounting flange. You would still add a washer if you need load spreading on a soft or slotted base, or a lock washer for vibration, and neither is included in the jar.

A standard M12 Class 8.8 hex head takes an 18mm or 19mm socket depending on head standard, so carry both. The bolt is a hex head type, not flange or socket cap, so a plain six point socket or open end wrench drives it with no special tooling.
