Boshart BG-199 No-Lead Brass Garden Hose Adapter, FGHT x MPT

The Boshart BG-199 series is a line of no-lead brass garden hose adapters built for residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing applications where a garden hose connection needs to transition to threaded male pipe. The BG-199 series is available in multiple model configurations, including BG-199-1208NL and BG-199-1212NL, with a 3/4" FGHT (female garden hose thread) connection paired with MPT (male pipe thread) fittings so a plumber can tie a standard garden hose end into a threaded pipe run quickly and reliably. Manufactured from no-lead brass, the BG-199 series is built to hold up to repeated connect/disconnect cycles common in hose-bib and utility water applications, and units ship packaged 10 pieces per unit for rough-in trucks and supply houses stocking multiples for service calls.

Boshart BG-199-1208NL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Boshart BG-199 adapter thread onto a standard garden hose end?
Yes. The BG-199 has a 3/4 inch FGHT (female garden hose thread) end, which is the standard hose thread on a typical garden hose male end, so it screws straight on. The other end is male pipe thread for tying into a threaded pipe run, no soldering or solvent welding involved.
2) What is the difference between Boshart BG-199-1208NL and BG-199-1212NL?
Both share the same 3/4 inch FGHT hose end; the pipe side is what changes. BG-199-1208NL gives you 3/4 inch FGHT x 1/2 inch MPT, and BG-199-1212NL is 3/4 inch FGHT x 3/4 inch MPT. Pick by the female pipe thread you are threading into: 1/2 inch FIP takes the 1208, 3/4 inch FIP takes the 1212.
3) Can I use a brass garden hose adapter like the BG-199 on potable water lines?
The BG-199 body is no-lead brass, which is what the trade uses for potable and drinking water service. Note the product does carry a Prop 65 lead warning, which is standard labeling on brass plumbing goods sold into California.
4) Do Boshart BG-199 hose adapters sell individually or in a pack?
They ship 10 pieces per unit. That packaging suits service truck stock and supply counters more than a one-off repair, so plan on a bag of ten rather than a single fitting.
5) Will a brass FGHT x MPT adapter hold up outdoors on a hose bib?
That is the intended use. No-lead brass resists corrosion in outdoor and utility water service, and the BG-199 is built for the repeated connect and disconnect cycles you get at hose bibs and wash-down points.
6) Can I use the BG-199 adapter for an irrigation hookup?
Yes, it is used for utility and irrigation water supply adapting as well as hose bib and outdoor spigot connections, residential or commercial rough-in, and industrial wash-down lines. Any spot where a 3/4 inch garden hose thread has to land on threaded pipe.
7) Where is the Boshart BG-199 adapter made?
Taiwan. Worth noting if you are bidding work with country-of-origin or domestic-preference requirements on the submittal.
