Bravura Dallas with Rectangle Trim Dummy Knobset US4 Satin Brass Finish, Grade 2

Dummy only. The Dallas knob in the Bravura 947 line is a fixed trim with no latch and no turning mechanism, so it mounts to the door face and serves as a pull. Use it on a closet door held by a roller or magnetic catch, on the inactive leaf of a French or double door pair, or wherever you need the knob look without any latching. If you need the door to stay shut on its own, you want a passage or privacy function instead.

It is classed as residential hardware built to Grade 2 standards on the internal mechanics. That makes it a reasonable fit for single family, condo, and apartment interiors. For a corridor or a school opening where a commercial spec is being enforced, go with a commercial-rated dummy trim such as the Schlage A170 Single Dummy, which is a Grade 2 heavy duty A Series trim, or the BEST 6K Series single dummy.

A dummy will not lock anything, so swap to a privacy function for a bedroom or bath. Within the same Bravura Dallas family the privacy version is the one to look for. Schlage lists the A170 as heavy duty with a door thickness range of 1-3/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch. The BEST 6K Series single dummy trim is also Grade 2 dummy function, rated medium duty.

The Bravura Dallas dummy knobset is dummy function, so it is fixed trim with no latch. For a latching closet or hall door, the Dexter C2000 Series passage knob is Grade 2 non-keyed passage function for doors 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch thick, and the Corbin Russwin CK4410 is a Grade 2 non-keyed passage/closet cylindrical lock over the same thickness range. Omnia's 434/PA egg-shaped knob latchset is a passage option in solid brass.

A dummy knob has no cylinder, so for a keyed opening look at the Dexter C2000 Series entry/office knob, Grade 2 and keyed for 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors, or the Corbin Russwin CK4851 entrance/office cylindrical knob with a conventional cylinder for doors 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch. On the residential side the Kwikset 400P-CP Polo keyed entry knob is Grade 3 for 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors.

It is supplied in US4 Satin Brass, a brushed brass tone. US4 is a standard BHMA finish designation, so it will sit alongside other hardware marked US4 (also written 606) from any maker without a visible mismatch. It will not match polished brass (US3) or satin nickel.

The Bravura Dallas dummy knobset is Grade 2 and designated residential. For heavier commercial traffic, the Schlage D10S passage latch is a Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical non-keyed knob with an Orbit knob, the Corbin Russwin CK4310 is a Grade 1 passage/closet knob for doors 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch, and the Sargent 8XG04 is a Grade 1 heavy duty storeroom/closet knob lock with a 2-3/4 inch backset.

Two to rule out: the Sargent 78-2875 is an outside knob only with B design, and the Sargent 28C-KNOB is exit device trim with knob and rose in entrance function for 1-3/4 inch doors. Both are trim for other hardware rather than a standalone dummy knobset like the Bravura Dallas. The Imperial USA ED-BKL580 is likewise knob trim in storeroom function from the ED-500 Series. If you want fixed non-operating trim on a bored door, stay with a dummy unit such as the Cal-Royal BA40 or BEST 6K single dummy trim.

The Bravura Dallas dummy knobset is offered in US4 satin brass with rectangle trim.
