No. The YS series body is copper with an electro-plated tin finish, and it is specified for copper conductors. Tin plating is there for corrosion resistance and conductivity on copper, not to make the splice dual rated. For aluminum or aluminum-to-copper work you need a connector specifically rated AL9CU or aluminum-only.
2) Is the Burndy YS39 splice rated for medium voltage cable at 35kV?
Yes. The YS long barrel splice carries a 35 kV rating (35,000 V maximum) with a 600 V minimum rating, which puts it in play for substation, underground and utility distribution splices as well as ordinary 600 V building feeders. It is UL Listed and CSA approved.
