1) Will a Bussmann Tron KAC fuse protect the SCRs in my drive, or do I need a regular branch-circuit fuse?
The Tron KAC series is a high-speed semiconductor fuse, which is what you want ahead of SCRs, thyristors, diodes and rectifiers. A standard branch-circuit fuse clears too slowly to save a solid-state device; the KAC is built to open fast under fault and limit damage to the semiconductor. Branch-circuit protection for the feeder is a separate job and still needs its own listed fuse or breaker.
2) How does a KAC fuse mount, clips or bolts?
The KAC is a blade-end fuse intended for stud mounting, so it bolts down rather than pushing into ferrule clips. If your existing holder is a clip-type ferrule block, the KAC will not drop in and you need a bolt-down or stud-mount base.
3) Is the Bussmann KAC fuse rated for a high available fault current panel?
Interrupting rating is 200 kiloamps, so the KAC covers service points with very high available fault current. Voltage rating is 600V, which must not be exceeded by the circuit it protects.
