Instead of a molded nylon pawl, the TY524M-3 uses a stainless steel barb as the locking element. The barb bites into the strap and grips harder as tension increases, so it holds through vibration and temperature cycling better than an all-plastic ratchet. It is why these are specified in panel, machine and vehicle work where a nylon pawl can back off.

The body is standard Nylon/Polyamide 6.6, which is the natural-resin indoor grade. For sustained sunlight exposure, specify a black UV-stabilized tie instead, since pigmented colors like this orange are not the weather-resistant formulation.

The TY524M-3 is molded in orange. Colored ties like this are used for circuit identification, phase or system coding, and separating runs inside a crowded panel or tray so a tech can trace a bundle at a glance. The color is through the nylon, not a coating, so it will not rub off during pulls.

It is a one-time tie. The stainless barb locks permanently and will not release, so removal means cutting the strap. Cut flush with a flush-cut tool, because the barb sits inside the head and a hand-torn tail leaves a sharp edge that can nick insulation during future pulls.
