The YLS-7.9-150BC is a 150 mm (5.91 in) long band, 7.9 mm (0.311 in) wide. Once you subtract the length consumed by the ball-lock head and the tail you need to grip, it suits small bundles and small-diameter pipe or conduit runs. For larger harnesses or trunk lines, step up to a longer band in the same 7.9 mm width rather than trying to stretch this one.

It is made from 316 stainless steel, the marine grade with added molybdenum for chloride resistance, and the band carries a black coating. That combination is what gets specified for coastal, offshore, wastewater, and food-plant washdown environments where 304 pits out. The coating also keeps the bare stainless from contacting dissimilar metals on the run.

Ball-lock is a self-locking stainless head: a free-moving ball wedges the band against the head as you pull the tail, so tension holds without a ratchet or a screw. You pull it by hand to start, then tension and cut the tail with a stainless tie tensioning tool. Cutting the excess with side cutters leaves a sharp tail, so use the proper tool on anything people will reach past.

Nylon is fine indoors and out of the heat, but it embrittles under UV and high temperature and has no real chemical resistance. A 316 stainless band like the YLS-7.9-150BC is what you use in switchyards, on exhaust and steam lines, in tunnels and mines, on marine decks, and anywhere fire, solvents, or salt would eventually take a plastic tie apart. The trade-off is that stainless bands need tensioning tools and can cut hands if trimmed badly.
